The Open Access Days 2026 will take place from September 28th to September 30th in Linz. As the central annual conference for Open Access in German-speaking countries, it is designed for everyone involved in the evolving landscape of scientific publishing, including researchers, library staff, infrastructure providers, and publishers.
This year’s program again offers a diverse range of sessions on Open Access, Open Science, and academic publishing.
What to expect
The conference will feature various formats, including:
- Expert talks and Keynotes
- Community sessions
- A “Tool Marketplace”
- Poster presentations … and much more.
Call for Contributions
Are welcome submissions on the following topics:
- Publishing in transition: Beyond traditional journal articles, how can we support the diversity of publication formats (e.g., digital editions, data publications) across different academic cultures?
- Ethical and legal frameworks: How can we design policies that sustainably advance Open Access? This includes navigating publishing agreements, retaining authors’ rights, and exploring new governance models.
- Open infrastructures: How can scholar-led systems be developed and operated collaboratively to ensure long-term stability and access to research data?
Language note: While the primary conference language is German, contributions in English are very much welcome.
Deadline to apply: April 26th
