Never miss a Diamond OA event: Sync the forum to your calendar!

Thanks to a new Discourse feature, staying in the loop just got a lot easier! You can now sync the forum’s events directly to your own personal calendar.

How does it work?

Discourse has added a new Calendar tab to your user preferences. This allows you to subscribe to forum feeds using apps like Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Microsoft Outlook.

To get started:

  1. Navigate to your Preferences → Calendar tab.
  2. Click Generate Subscription URLs.
  3. You’ll see one-click buttons for:
    • Google Calendar: Pre-fills the feed in your browser.
    • Microsoft Outlook: Opens the web subscription dialog.
    • Apple Calendar: Launches your native app via webcal://.
    • Copy URL: For any other app that supports ICS feeds.

The best part?

You get to decide exactly what shows up in your schedule. You can choose to follow:

  • All forum events (to see everything happening).
  • Events you are going or are interest in.
  • Your bookmarks that have specific reminder dates.

I hope this new feature helps you stay connected more easily  Let me know if you have any trouble setting it up!

Hi Marion. Help an old man out… where can I find the <Navigate to your Preferences → Calendar tab>? On which menu or page would I find this? I promise I have looked and I have been found wanting.

Hi Mark, no problem at all, I’m happy to walk you through it!

First, click on your avatar in the top right corner, then select the profile icon. This will open a menu where you can click on ‘Preferences’.

You’ll land on the page shown below, where you can select the ‘Calendar’ option:

Hope this helps! Let me know if you’re still having trouble
