The ANR SoSHS and the Lorraine steering committee for open science have joined forces to organise a study day on 17 November 2026 dedicated to the “costs of open science”. It will take place at the University Presidency, Cours Léopold in Nancy.
From a multidisciplinary perspective, the day aims to highlight the costs – financial, organisational, institutional, societal, whether visible or invisible – of open science to demonstrate its benefits, but also the challenges that remain to be addressed and the resources needed to successfully transition to full open access.
Expected contributions may take a theoretical, empirical, or critical approach, from both Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) and Science, Technology, and Medicine (STM) fields.
The three proposed axes are as follows:
- Funding openness: the cost for institutions
- Producing openly: the cost for researchers
- Promoting and sharing: the cost for society
Proposals should be sent before 15 September to the following address: justine.richard@univ-lorraine.fr
