Register: Registration - 3rd Global Summit on Diamond Open Access
Earlier this month, the EDCH joined forces with the global Diamond OA community during the 3rd Global Summit on Diamond Open Access in Bengaluru, India. From sustainability to global policy alignment, the discussions highlighted the ongoing commitment to support fee-free, community-led publishing. Representing the EDCH, our Co-coordinator, @johanrooryck, joined 350+ delegates in person and online to contribute to the summit’s mission of strengthening the Diamond OA ecosystem and aligning our efforts on the global level.
Discussions during the Summit focused on:
- Scaling Sustainably: Moving Diamond OA from a “niche” model to a consolidated global infrastructure.
- Knowledge as a Public Good: Aligning platforms with national science policies to ensure they are treated as essential public infrastructure.
- Changing the “Prestige” Game: Shifting research assessment to reward authors for choosing equitable, fee-free publishing.
What’s next?
A major outcome of the Summit is the Bengaluru Roadmap for Diamond OA. The Roadmap brings together the shared objectives and actions identified during the Summit, while leaving space for regional, national, disciplinary, and institutional pathways to implementation. Stay tuned as this will become available in the coming weeks!
