Workshop: How to Market Open Access: Practical Strategies, Advice and Tips

If you’re tasked with championing the value of open research to researchers and beyond, join this 2 hour workshop that will share practical strategies, advice and tips on how to communicate effectively about open access with time-poor researchers, using techniques from other sectors!

The scholarly publishing landscape is incredibly complicated, and amongst all the white noise, vital messages about the benefits of open access and an open research process are being missed, ignored, or tuned out.

Overview

We need to communicate strongly and effectively about the benefits of open access; how can techniques and strategies from the world of marketing help us tackle this challenge? We will explore how to use well-known marketing strategies - like audience segmentation, outcome-driven objectives, and campaign-led storytelling - without diluting the complexity or compromising the values of open access advocates.
