Summary: Scientific publishing is evolving to make research more accessible, but not all Open Access (OA) models are equally fair or sustainable. Green and Gold OA still rely on commercial publishers and often involve hidden costs for researchers or institutions. Diamond OA, by contrast, is community-led, free for both authors and readers, and keeps research as a public good.
