Hi everyone,
I wanted to share this call for proposals for the UK–Ireland Digital Humanities Association Annual Event 2026, which might be of interest to many of you, especially given its strong focus on sustainability, a topic that resonates with a lot of the discussions we have here.
The event will take place at the University of Southampton (UK) on 15-16 June 2026, with selected sessions also streamed online.
This year’s theme, Sustainability, is approached very broadly: from sustaining digital infrastructures, projects, and research teams, to questions around digital preservation, ethical computing, climate justice, repair culture, and long-term community practices in digital humanities and digital cultural heritage.
The organisers are particularly encouraging:
- interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral contributions,
- reflections on collaborative practices and long-term sustainability,
- non-traditional formats (workshops, tutorials, creative-critical approaches, XR / VR / AR, etc.).
Key dates:
- Abstract submission deadline: 30 January 2026
- Expressions of interest for peer review: 2 February 2026
- Notification of acceptance: 16 March 2026
- Conference dates: 15-16 June 2026
Bursaries will be available to support in-person attendance, and affordable accommodation is planned. The programme and registration details will be announced in the coming months.
