Great news for scholar-led journals! The Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries (CoDOA), working with ten partner institutions, has launched the first national consortial funding scheme dedicated to Diamond Open Access journals in Switzerland. Developed as part of the CoDOA project (2025-2026), the scheme takes a community-driven approach to supporting journals run by and for the scholarly community.
The call for journal applications is now open!
If your journal ticks these boxes, you’re invited to apply:
- free of charge for both authors and readers
- published for at least one year in Diamond Open Access
- immediate Open Access, with no embargo or reader registration
- published under an open licence
- owned by a public or not-for-profit organisation (or part thereof)
- embedded in Swiss research communities
Journals define their own funding target and funding purpose. Minimum funding amount: CHF 4’000/year; maximum funding amount: CHF 30’000/year.
Funding is awarded if the individual funding target has been reached and at least three institutions have pledged support for the journal. Successful journals receive funding for a three-year funding period.

Feel free to share this with any journals in your network that might be eligible, always good to see more support flowing toward scholar-led publishing!
