Hi everyone!
We’ve got some exciting news to share with the community. Fresh off our kick-off meeting in Brussels last March, we are officially hitting the ground running with AEGIS-OA (which stands for Activate European Guidance and Incentives for Sustainable Open Access).
What’s the plan?
Funded by Horizon Europe, AEGIS-OA is all about making the scholarly publishing ecosystem in Europe more transparent, sustainable, and high-quality. We aren’t starting from scratch, we’re building directly on the foundations laid by projects you likely know well, like DIAMAS, CRAFT-OA, and PALOMERA.
Our main mission is to leverage and expand the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH). Here’s a quick look at what we’ll be focusing on:
- More than just journals: We’re extending EDCH services to include Diamond OA books, because monographs deserve the same high standards and visibility!
- Upskilling the community: Expect new training programs for publishing professionals and trainers across the ERA.
- Tech & Tools: We’re enhancing the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH) and developing ready-to-use tools (like an EDCH-aligned OJS package).
- A unified network: We’re coordinating with National Capacity Centres (NCCs) to make sure Diamond OA has the stability it needs to thrive.
Who’s behind this?
A motivated consortium of 24 partners from 16 countries. It’s a great mix of service providers, research organisations, and NCCs all working toward a community-led publishing landscape!
Stay tuned!
