The expertise center enouraged that Netherlands University Presses (NUPs) take the DOAS self-assessment developed by DIAMAS, and now part of the EDCH. The diamond open access standard (DOAS) is a benchmarking resource for institutional publishers and service providers (IPSPs) of diamond open access, providing 1) comprehensive guidelines to scholarly standards and 2) a self-assessment tool to evaluate publishing standards. The expertise center has made an overview of the key results of the self-assessment, including highlights of areas the NUPs perform well and areas for improvement. The main results show NUPs perform well and have scored high on most governance and policy aspects, especially in the components of Open Science and legal ownership. A number of items in two operational areas can be improved by these, mostly new presses based on results: 1) editorial management, editorial quality and research integrity and 2) visibility, communication, marketing, and impact.
