The Diamond Open Access Policy Forum (DOAPF) convenes policymakers, research funders and leaders from across the scholarly communication ecosystem to explore policies and sustainable funding models for Diamond Open Access.
The Cross-regional Diamond OA Policy Forum is an online place where policymakers, funders and other open access experts from three continents (Africa, Europe and Latin America) meet to share, discuss and develop policy and funding mechanisms for Diamond Open Access to support more equitable, diverse, and community-led scholarly publishing internationally. This stems from the ALMASI Project (https://almasiproject.org/), which seeks to develop a nonprofit, high-quality, and sustainable scholarly communication ecosystem across Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
Following a series of regional meetings held in September and October 2026 in Africa, Europe, and Latin America with a special focus on funding Diamond OA, the third cross-regional Diamond OA Policy Forum (Africa–Europe–Latin America) will build upon these regional conversations and seek cross-regional perspectives on the topic drawing together insights from each region to develop a broader, cross-regional understanding of the challenges and opportunities in funding Diamond OA.
