The Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS) has become a benchmark for quality for Diamond OA journal publishing. As part of the AEGIS-OA project (2026–2027), which is advancing Diamond OA in the European Research Area, this standard is now being adapted for books.

This online workshop, organised by the Open Access Books Network, is part of a public consultation on the DOAS adaptation for books. We would like your contributions to help shape it. We will begin with a short introduction to the AEGIS-OA project and the DOAS, then explain why we are adapting the standard for books and how the adaptation process works. The main part of the session will be dedicated to some of the new sections of the draft and will use early indicators taken from our public consultation feedback survey.

Whether you’re a publisher, librarian, researcher, or other stakeholder in scholarly book publishing, your early input is essential to developing a standard that reflects the needs and realities of the OA books community. The survey will remain open until 18 October 2026 and we encourage all participants to fill it in after the session to share any further thoughts. But first, let’s have the conversation.
