**New tool alert!**

EIFL and Research Consulting have developed a toolkit to help journals build a three-year financial sustainability plan. It was created with the editorial teams of eight African Diamond OA journals (in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Togo), but the resources can be useful to journals anywhere.

The toolkit guides journals in:

- working out what they really cost to run, including the unpaid time given by editors and reviewers;
- finding funding that does not involve charging authors or readers;
- preparing for the loss of a major funder.

It comes with a simple spreadsheet template to project costs and funding over three years, and a fully worked example for a fictional journal.

It would be super helpful if this resource was added to the Further reading section of the [Sustainability resources](https://resources.edch.eu/sustainability-resources)😀
