Leading Polish and European research institutions invite the community to a full-day conference on the future of Diamond Open Access (OA) in the Social Sciences and Humanities. The event will take place on **4 December 2025 at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU in Brussels**.

The conference will bring together policymakers, scholars, funders, publishers, and infrastructure providers to explore how Diamond OA can strengthen fair, multilingual, and community-led scholarly communication in Europe. With Horizon Europe 2028–2034 and the new ERA Act on the horizon, this is a timely opportunity to discuss sustainable policies, innovative infrastructures, and practical solutions for supporting Diamond OA.

**Why attend?**

- Learn how Diamond OA contributes to an open and resilient European Research Area
- Discover successful community-driven publishing initiatives and platforms
- Engage in discussions on policy, indexing, and visibility for SSH publications
- Connect with peers and stakeholders across Europe

**Programme Overview**

_The Policy Horizon for Diamond OA in Europe_
Representatives of member states, the European Commission, Science Europe, and universities map current policy developments and discuss how Diamond OA aligns with ERA objectives, research sovereignty, and multilingualism.

_Institutional & Community-Driven Diamond OA Initiatives_
Lightning talks highlighting innovative publishing platforms, governance models, and tools advancing equitable, multilingual dissemination in SSH.

_The European Diamond Capacity Hub_
An introduction to the EDCH, its governance, goals, and role in supporting capacity-building and funding alignment for Diamond OA across Europe.

_How to Support Diamond OA in the ERA_
An interactive discussion on policy mechanisms, technical infrastructures, and national–European coordination. Includes insights from the Inspiring ERA Exchange workshop.

_Indexing Diamond OA Content_
Experts examine discoverability, metadata quality, interoperability, and fair evaluation practices for Diamond publications within SSH.

_Closing Reflections & Recommendations_
A synthesis of the day’s discussions, highlighting the need for sustained policy recognition, financial support, and infrastructure development to strengthen Europe’s open scholarly communication ecosystem.
